Autumn bucket list for outdoor activities with kids

Do you like autumn as much as I do? The leaves take on various shades of red, yellow, purple, orange, brown and black. The wind blows through your hair and the dry leaves and wood crackle under your feet as you trudge through the park or the forest. It’s time again for your warm woolly hat and robust rubber boots.

Get outside and enjoy this wonderful season with your family!

This is my personal autumn bucket list and I hope it inspires you to spend some quality time with your kids outdoors. I will update the list with actual pictures of our activities once we get around doing it. Happy autumn!

Collecting chestnuts and hazelnuts

These nuts are perfect for some autumn decoration at home. Did you know that you and your kids can create small figures from it with help of toothpicks and glue?

Update: We found some!

Harvesting apples on a farm

This is my personal favorit and I would like to do this as a tradition with the kids every year.

Update: This year we went again to the Frydenlund orchard with friends on a sunny Sunday afternoon. We collected about 12 kg of delicious, organic apples and had a great time! Here are our pictures:

Collecting colourful leaves, drying and compressing them

We already started collecting. This is what we found so far in our backyard:

Hiking through the woods

It does not necessarily need to be a day long hike in the forest. A long walk through the park with the kids in the stroller or in the carrier will be a lovely experience as well.

Going to the beach and dipping the feet in the ice cold water

No beach nearby? Let's take a lake or river.

That's the beach we love to visit, just a few minutes away from our home.

Flying a kite

Update: We really tried our best to get the kite up in the air, but the wind was simply not strong enough. Yes, we blamed the wind... but still we had a lot of fun watching the kite crashing to the ground every single time.

Jumping into the puddles on a rainy day

Extra tip: Bring water proof rubber boots and rain trousers for the kids. It's a lot of fun for the parents, too.

Update: We did it! And my jeans got all wet...

Searching for sea buckthorn and mushrooms for a delicious meal

Or whatever you can find outside that can be used for dinner.

Drinking hot tea on the balcony with a bunch of wool blankets and a hot-water bottle

If you don't have a balcony or terrace, have you thought about a picnic in the park?

Doing a harbour boat trip on stormy day

Do you have your own bucket list? What do you like to do in autumn? What am I missing on my list? Let me know - I would love to hear from you.
